Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance is aiming to work with appropriate partners in developing Cultural Camps for Youth to run in 2011/2012.  These camps will aim to foster cultural pride within communities and self-esteem amongst participating individuals and will teach young people about their cultural traditions as well as passing on skills they need for the modern world.

Cultural camps have been operating in some regional communities for years, but have generally been funded as one-off programs. Saltwater Freshwater Arts will aim to secure program funding for the camps to ensure the Region’s Aboriginal youth have ongoing access to cultural knowledge and opportunities to develop as young community leaders.
